Initial Consultation
Your first session typically begins with a consultation where the practitioner learns about your health history, current concerns, intentions for healing, and spiritual goals. This conversation helps the practitioner understand your needs and tailor the session to support your specific situation. You may be asked about emotional or spiritual challenges you're experiencing, as Reiki Jin-Kei Do addresses all dimensions of wellbeing.
Treatment
During the treatment, you will lie fully clothed on a comfortable massage table or sit in a chair, depending on your preference. The room is typically calm, quiet, and may include soft lighting or gentle music to support relaxation. The practitioner will place their hands lightly on or just above various areas of your body—such as your head, shoulders, torso, and legs—to direct Reiki energy to where it is needed.
You may feel warmth, tingling, or a sense of deep relaxation. Some people experience emotional release, insights, or a profound sense of peace. Others feel little physical sensation but report clarity or emotional shifts afterward. Experiences vary widely, and there is no "correct" way to experience Reiki. The session typically lasts 45 to 90 minutes, allowing time for the energy work and integration.
After Treatment
After the session ends, you may feel deeply relaxed, calm, or energized. Some people experience what is called a "healing crisis"—temporary emotional releases or slight physical sensations—as the body processes shifts in energy. Practitioners often recommend resting, drinking water, and allowing time for integration. You may journal about insights that arose or simply rest and notice any shifts over the following days.
Follow-up Sessions
Many people benefit from regular sessions, whether weekly, monthly, or as needed. Some use Reiki Jin-Kei Do as an ongoing spiritual practice alongside personal development work, while others attend sessions at specific times of transition or challenge. Your practitioner will discuss recommendations based on your goals and response to treatment.
