Seichim emerged in the 1980s as an expansion of Reiki principles, developed by Patrick Zeigler, an American mystic and healer. Zeigler reported receiving the Seichim attunements during a spiritual experience in Egypt, which he believed connected the system to ancient Egyptian healing wisdom and the concept of "all is light." The name Seichim is said to derive from an Egyptian word meaning "the power of all life" or "pure light."
From its inception, Seichim was designed to complement and extend Reiki's energy work by incorporating additional frequencies and emphasizing emotional healing and spiritual development. Practitioners describe it as a system that works with multiple dimensions of healing energy, including sound, light, and divine love. The modality gained popularity in Western complementary health circles during the 1990s and 2000s.
Seichim spread internationally through practitioner networks, training programs, and holistic health communities. Unlike Reiki, which has more established organizational structures, Seichim has developed more loosely, with different practitioners and schools sometimes offering variations in technique and philosophy. The system emphasizes personal spiritual experience and intuitive channeling, which has contributed to its flexible, evolving nature.
Today, Seichim is practiced by energy healers, holistic practitioners, and spiritual counselors worldwide, often integrated with other complementary modalities. It remains rooted in the belief that universal healing energy is available to all and that compassion and intention are central to facilitating transformation and well-being.
