Founded in 1989, the American Herbalists Guild (AHG) is a nonprofit membership organization supporting the practice and profession of clinical herbalism in the United States. We bring together practitioners, educators, students, and herbal enthusiasts who share a commitment to responsible herbal practice and accessible education. Our founders sought to strengthen herbal education and establish standards of clinical competency across diverse herbal traditions. That work led to our Registered Herbalist, RH (AHG), designation, which recognizes practitioners who meet our education and clinical experience criteria through a rigorous peer review process. Today, we support professional development through continuing education, mentorship, webinars, our annual symposium, and the peer-reviewed Journal of the American Herbalists Guild. Our local chapters and professional community give members opportunities to exchange knowledge, build relationships, and develop their practices. For the public, we maintain directories of Registered Herbalists and herb schools to help people explore practitioners and educational options. Our mission centers on ethics, competency, diversity, and freedom of practice. Through advocacy, education, and community, we work to strengthen clinical herbalism as a profession and support access to herbalism for all.

The British Columbia Herbalists Association (BCHA) is a professional, non-profit organization dedicated to establishing rigorous educational standards, ethical codes of practice, and professional certification for qualified herbal therapists and clinical herbalists. Operating as a guiding authority for botanical medicine in western Canada, BCHA ensures that practitioners uphold high levels of clinical competence, patient safety, and professional accountability. By setting clear standards of practice, the association bridges traditional plant-based healing wisdom with modern professional accountability, protecting both the integrity of herbal medicine and the well-being of the public. BCHA serves as an essential hub for the herbalist community, offering structured membership pathways—including Registered Herbal Therapist (RHT) designations, practitioner listings, and educational resources—while actively advocating for the recognition and advancement of the herbal arts. Through public directories, community engagement, and ongoing educational initiatives, the association empowers individuals to access trusted, professional herbal care while fostering a collaborative network of practitioners dedicated to the preservation and practice of botanical medicine.
