Preparing for Your Session

Most practitioners recommend arriving with a clear intention—whether that's exploring a specific emotional pattern, seeking spiritual guidance, or simply opening to whatever emerges. Wear comfortable, loose clothing that won't restrict breathing during meditation or movement exercises.

Avoid alcohol for 24 hours beforehand, and consider eating lightly on the day of your session. Many practitioners suggest bringing a journal to capture insights afterwards. Some will ask you to reflect on specific questions before arriving: What feels wounded or stuck in your life? Where do you sense disconnection from your authentic self?

Create space in your schedule after the session. Soul healing can stir deep emotions or shift energy in ways that feel profound but require time to integrate.

The Session Experience

You'll typically begin seated comfortably whilst your practitioner explains their approach and asks about your intentions. The initial 10-15 minutes often involve discussion about what's brought you here and what you hope to explore.

Most sessions then move into guided meditation or breathwork designed to help you drop below surface concerns and access deeper awareness. Your practitioner might lead you through visualisations, ask you to focus on bodily sensations, or guide you to connect with what they term your 'soul's wisdom'. This central portion usually lasts 30-45 minutes.

The final phase involves integration—discussing what arose, perhaps journaling, or receiving guidance on how to work with insights that emerged. Throughout, practitioners often speak of 'holding sacred space' for whatever needs to surface, whether that's grief, clarity, or simply a sense of coming home to yourself.

What You Might Experience

Responses vary enormously. Some people report profound emotional releases—tears, laughter, or waves of grief for losses they hadn't fully acknowledged. Others describe subtle shifts in perspective, like seeing familiar situations with fresh clarity or feeling more connected to their values.

Physically, you might notice deeper breathing, warmth moving through your body, or areas of tension releasing. Some people feel lighter afterwards, whilst others initially feel more tender or emotionally raw. Vivid dreams or continued emotional processing often occur in the days following.

Not everyone experiences dramatic shifts. Some sessions feel quieter—perhaps a gentle sense of peace or simply permission to rest more deeply than usual. Trust that whatever arises is meaningful within your own process.

Aftercare and Integration

Plan for a quiet evening following your session. Many practitioners recommend avoiding intense social situations, alcohol, or demanding activities for 24 hours. This allows space for any emotional or energetic shifts to settle.

Drink plenty of water and be gentle with yourself. Some people feel energised, others need rest. Journal about any insights, dreams, or continuing feelings that arise. Many practitioners offer brief follow-up phone calls to check how you're processing the work.

Changes are often subtle and cumulative rather than immediate. You might notice different responses to familiar triggers, clearer boundaries, or a renewed sense of what matters to you. These shifts typically become apparent over weeks rather than days.

Building Your Practice

Most practitioners recommend beginning with three to six sessions spaced 2-4 weeks apart. This allows time to integrate each session's insights before moving deeper. Some people continue with monthly sessions as ongoing spiritual maintenance, whilst others return during specific life transitions.

Your practitioner will likely discuss how the work is landing for you and suggest spacing based on your responses. Soul healing is typically viewed as a gradual process of reconnection rather than a quick fix. Many people find it most valuable when combined with other support—whether therapy, meditation practice, or spiritual direction—rather than as a standalone approach.
