Initial Consultation
Your first session typically begins with a conversation about your wellness goals, medical history, and any physical sensations or conditions relevant to your comfort. The practitioner will explain how the equipment works, what frequencies will be used, and what sensations you might expect. You'll be encouraged to communicate any concerns or contraindications (such as pregnancy, pacemakers, or recent surgery). This consultation ensures the session is tailored to your needs and comfort level.
Treatment
During the main session, you'll typically lie on a vibroacoustic chair or bed (sometimes called a sound lounger) or hold a handheld device against your body. The practitioner selects specific low-frequency sounds and music, which are then converted into vibrations transmitted through the equipment directly into your body. Sessions usually last 20–45 minutes. You may feel gentle vibrations throughout your torso, limbs, or entire body depending on the device and frequency selection. Many people report a pleasant, humming sensation. The experience is generally passive—you simply relax while the vibrations work. Some practitioners combine this with guided imagery, meditation, or specific music selections chosen for their harmonic properties.
After Treatment
Most people feel deeply relaxed after a session, similar to the state following a massage or meditation. You may feel lighter, less tense, or more grounded. Some experience mild drowsiness or a sense of calm that lingers for hours. There are typically no adverse effects, though you're advised to hydrate and allow time to transition gently before returning to active tasks. You might be given home care suggestions, such as rest or gentle movement, depending on your practitioner's approach.
Follow-up Sessions
Many practitioners recommend a series of sessions to build cumulative relaxation benefits—often weekly or biweekly initially. Your practitioner may adjust frequencies, duration, or accompanying music based on your feedback and goals. Some people use vibroacoustic therapy as a one-time wellness experience, while others incorporate it into ongoing wellness routines. Your practitioner will discuss frequency and number of sessions based on your individual needs and desired outcomes.
