Seek prompt assessment if fatigue is accompanied by unexplained weight loss, persistent fever, or night sweats. Sudden-onset fatigue with neurological symptoms — such as weakness, vision changes, or difficulty swallowing — warrants urgent attention. Fatigue severe enough to prevent ordinary daily activity should not be managed without professional input.
Research consistently identifies energy substrate depletion and metabolic byproduct accumulation as the primary drivers of exercise-induced muscle fatigue. Evidence for complementary approaches — including massage and structured exercise — is moderate, showing benefits for recovery and perceived fatigue.
