Initial Consultation
Your first Rainbow Reiki session typically begins with a consultation where the practitioner asks about your health history, current concerns, stress levels, and wellness goals. They may inquire about areas of your body where you hold tension or emotional blocks, and discuss what you hope to experience. This conversation helps the practitioner tailor the session to your needs and establish a foundation of trust and comfort.
Treatment
You'll be invited to lie fully clothed on a treatment table or sit comfortably, in a calm, quiet environment. The practitioner may dim lights and use soft music to create a relaxing atmosphere. They will begin by centering themselves and setting an intention for the session.
During the treatment, the practitioner uses hands-on or hands-off techniques, typically placing their hands on or near your body in a series of positions. They believe they are channeling universal life force energy through their hands. What distinguishes Rainbow Reiki is the incorporation of color work: the practitioner may visualize specific colors (often corresponding to chakras or your stated concerns), discuss the healing properties of certain colors, or use colored lights, crystals, or visualization techniques to enhance the energy work.
A typical session lasts 45 to 90 minutes. You may experience feelings of warmth, tingling, deep relaxation, or emotional release. Some people report seeing colors, feeling sensations of energy movement, or gaining insights during the session. There is no pain involved.
After Treatment
After the session, you'll be invited to rest for a few minutes before slowly returning to normal activity. The practitioner may offer water and suggest that you take time to integrate the experience. They often provide guidance on self-care, such as drinking extra water, resting, or practicing color visualization at home. Some practitioners recommend journaling about your experience or noting any shifts over the following days.
Follow-up Sessions
Many practitioners recommend a series of sessions—typically weekly or bi-weekly for several weeks—to support sustained benefits. The frequency and number of sessions vary based on individual goals and response. Some people use Rainbow Reiki as occasional maintenance, while others commit to longer-term work. Your practitioner will discuss a recommended schedule during your initial consultation.
