Initial Consultation
Your first session typically begins with a consultation where the practitioner learns about your health history, current concerns, lifestyle, and goals for Reiki support. They will explain how Restorative Reiki works, what you can expect during the session, and answer any questions you have. This conversation helps the practitioner tailor the session to your needs and establish a comfortable, trusting relationship. You'll be asked about any physical discomfort, emotional stress, or areas where you hope to experience relief or balance.
Treatment
During the treatment, you'll recline fully clothed on a massage table or comfortable surface in a calm, warm environment, typically softly lit with gentle music or nature sounds. The practitioner places their hands lightly on or just above your body, moving slowly through different positions—over the head, chest, abdomen, limbs, and back. They may focus longer on areas of tension or concern. You may feel warmth, tingling, or deep relaxation; some people report colors or sensations, while others simply feel peaceful. Most sessions last 50–90 minutes. Your only task is to rest and allow yourself to receive the healing energy. Many people drift into a deeply relaxed state or light sleep during Restorative Reiki.
After Treatment
After the session ends, you'll be given time to transition gently back to alertness, often with water or herbal tea offered. The practitioner may share observations or suggestions for self-care at home. You may feel deeply calm, grounded, and peaceful for hours or even days afterward. Some people experience a "clearing" period of 24–48 hours where emotions or physical sensations shift as the body processes the treatment. Rest, hydration, and gentle movement are typically recommended.
Follow-up Sessions
Many people benefit from regular Restorative Reiki sessions—weekly, bi-weekly, or monthly depending on their needs and goals. Consistency often enhances the cumulative effects of relaxation and balance. Your practitioner will discuss with you how frequently sessions might serve you best and may adjust the focus or approach as your needs evolve. Some people use Restorative Reiki as ongoing preventive wellness support, while others seek intensive sessions during stressful periods.
