Initial Consultation
Your seated massage session typically begins with a brief consultation where the practitioner asks about any areas of tension, pain, injuries, or health conditions. They'll discuss your comfort level, pressure preferences, and any specific concerns. This conversation helps the therapist tailor the session to your needs. You'll remain fully clothed throughout the session, making it convenient for workplace or event settings.
Treatment
You'll be seated in an ergonomic massage chair or a regular chair with proper support. The therapist applies massage techniques to your neck, shoulders, upper back, lower back, and arms—the areas most affected by tension and stress. Techniques may include Swedish massage strokes, kneading, trigger point work, and compression. A typical session lasts 15–30 minutes, though longer sessions are available. The therapist may ask for feedback about pressure and comfort during the session.
After Treatment
Once the session ends, you'll slowly stand and take a moment to reorient yourself. Many people feel relaxed and may experience temporary light-headedness, so rising slowly is recommended. Drink water to help flush metabolic waste from your muscles. The therapist may provide recommendations for stretches, posture awareness, or follow-up sessions based on your condition.
Follow-up Sessions
While a single session provides immediate relaxation benefits, regular seated massage sessions—weekly or bi-weekly—may offer cumulative benefits for chronic tension. Your practitioner can discuss a recommended schedule based on your goals and budget. Some people use seated massage as a maintenance tool alongside other wellness practices.
