Preparing for Your Session
Wear comfortable, loose-fitting clothing in natural fabrics if possible—cotton or linen allow you to move freely during any guided movements or breathing exercises. Many practitioners suggest avoiding synthetic materials, though this is based on energetic principles rather than safety concerns.
Arrive well-hydrated but avoid heavy meals for two hours beforehand. Some practitioners recommend reducing caffeine intake on session days, believing it may affect energy sensitivity. Bring a water bottle, as you may feel thirsty afterwards.
Leave mobile phones in another room or switch to airplane mode. The session requires focused attention, and practitioners often emphasise the importance of disconnecting from external distractions. If you take any medications, continue as normal—energy work does not interfere with conventional treatments.
The Assessment and Opening
Your practitioner begins by discussing your current energy levels, recent stressors, and what you hope to experience. This conversation typically lasts 10-15 minutes and helps them tailor their approach to your individual needs.
You'll then lie comfortably on a treatment table or sit in a supportive chair, fully clothed. The practitioner may spend several minutes quietly observing or scanning your energy field, often moving their hands several inches above your body without making physical contact. Some practitioners describe perceiving colours, temperatures, or density variations in the aura during this phase.
The room is usually softly lit with gentle music or nature sounds. Many practitioners use crystals, singing bowls, or essential oils to create what they consider an energetically supportive environment.
Energy Work and Rebalancing
The main treatment phase typically lasts 30-45 minutes. Your practitioner may use various techniques: holding their hands above different areas of your body, guiding you through visualisation exercises, or employing sound therapy with chimes or tuning forks.
You might be asked to imagine light moving through your body, visualise your aura expanding and brightening, or focus on specific colours. Some practitioners incorporate breathwork, asking you to breathe deeply while they work on particular areas of your energy field.
Physical contact is minimal and usually limited to light touch on shoulders or hands, always with your permission. The practitioner may pause occasionally to check in with you or guide you through different visualisations as they perceive changes in your energy field.
What You Might Experience
Sensations vary dramatically between individuals and sessions. Many people report feeling deeply relaxed, similar to meditation or gentle massage. Others describe tingling, warmth, or coolness in different parts of their body, particularly around areas the practitioner is focusing on.
Some experience vivid colours behind closed eyelids, emotional releases, or memories arising spontaneously. A few report feeling energy moving through their body like gentle waves or currents. Others feel very little during the session but notice effects afterwards.
Emotional responses can include sudden tearfulness, laughter, or profound peace. These reactions are considered normal within the practice framework, representing what practitioners interpret as energy blockages releasing or rebalancing occurring.
After Your Session
Plan for 5-10 minutes of quiet transition time before leaving. Many people feel deeply relaxed, occasionally light-headed, or emotionally sensitive immediately afterwards. Practitioners typically recommend drinking plenty of water and avoiding alcohol for the rest of the day.
Schedule gentle activities for the evening—avoid intense exercise, stressful situations, or important decisions. Some practitioners suggest taking a bath with Epsom salts to support what they view as the integration process.
Effects may continue developing over 24-48 hours. People often report improved sleep, increased energy, or emotional clarity in the days following. Others notice little immediate change but find cumulative effects over multiple sessions.
Treatment Course and Frequency
Most practitioners recommend beginning with 3-6 sessions spaced one to two weeks apart, allowing time for what they consider energetic integration between treatments. Initial sessions focus on assessment and addressing what practitioners perceive as major imbalances or blockages.
Maintenance sessions might occur monthly or seasonally, depending on your personal preference and the practitioner's recommendations. Some people continue regular sessions as part of their spiritual practice, while others use auric field regeneration during particularly stressful periods.
Progress is typically assessed through your subjective reports of energy levels, emotional balance, and overall wellbeing rather than measurable clinical markers. Keep notes about your experiences to help track patterns and discuss your observations with your practitioner.
