Initial Consultation
Your practitioner will begin by discussing your health history, current concerns, injuries, activity level, and specific goals for the session. They may ask about pain levels, areas of tension, previous treatments, and any medical conditions or medications relevant to massage. This conversation allows the practitioner to develop a customized treatment plan tailored to your needs.
Treatment
The session typically takes place on a massage table in a calm, private room. Your practitioner will use a combination of techniques selected specifically for your concerns—these may include Swedish massage strokes, deep tissue work, trigger point therapy, myofascial release, stretching, or other specialized methods. The practitioner will work at a pressure level comfortable for you and may adjust techniques throughout the session based on your feedback. Most sessions last 30 minutes to 90 minutes depending on your needs.
After Treatment
You may experience immediate relaxation, reduced tension, or improved mobility. Some clients notice residual soreness similar to mild exercise soreness, which typically resolves within 24-48 hours. Your practitioner will provide guidance on self-care, such as hydration, gentle movement, or heat/ice application if appropriate. They may recommend a timeline for follow-up sessions.
Follow-up Sessions
If addressing a specific concern, your practitioner may recommend a series of sessions spaced days or weeks apart to achieve sustained results. Some clients return periodically for maintenance, while others use specialty massage as needed for acute issues.
