American Society of Acupuncturists

The American Society of Acupuncturists (ASA) is a national professional organization founded in 2015 to advance acupuncture and herbal medicine across the United States. We bring state associations and licensed acupuncturists together to strengthen the profession and help more people access care. Our work connects advocacy, education, and research. Through our network of member state associations, we support efforts to improve professional education, practice standards, credentialing, and recognition within the American healthcare system. We give practitioners opportunities to learn, share knowledge, and participate in decisions that affect their profession. At the state and federal levels, we advocate for policies that expand access to acupuncture. This includes pursuing Medicare recognition for licensed acupuncturists and supporting state associations in their legislative work. We also provide educational webinars, conferences, professional resources, and information for patients and policymakers. Since our founding, we have worked toward a shared goal: recognition of acupuncture as a complete system of medicine. We envision a healthcare system where acupuncturists contribute as respected colleagues and leaders, and patients have equitable access to their care.
