Initial Consultation
Your practitioner will discuss your health history, current concerns, and wellness goals. They may ask about your emotional state, areas of physical tension, and what you hope to experience from sound healing. This conversation helps the practitioner select appropriate instruments, frequencies, and techniques tailored to your needs.
Treatment
Sound healing sessions typically take place in a quiet, comfortable environment where you lie down or sit in a relaxed position. Your eyes may remain open or closed, according to your preference. The practitioner uses various instruments—such as singing bowls, tuning forks, gongs, didgeridoos, or voice—to create harmonious vibrations and tones around you.
During the session, you may experience the direct vibrations of instruments placed on or near your body, or hear sustained tones that are believed to promote entrainment (alignment with the sound frequencies). Sessions typically last 30 to 90 minutes. Many people report feeling deeply relaxed, experiencing emotional release, or noticing sensations of warmth, tingling, or energy movement. Some practitioners incorporate breathing techniques, visualizations, or affirmations alongside the sound work.
After Treatment
After a session, you may feel deeply relaxed, calm, or emotionally lighter. Some people experience mild temporary emotional sensitivity or require time to integrate the experience. Your practitioner may recommend resting, drinking water, and avoiding strenuous activity for the remainder of the day. They may also suggest journaling or reflecting on any insights that arose during the session.
Follow-up Sessions
Many practitioners recommend a series of sessions—often weekly or bi-weekly for 4 to 8 weeks—to build cumulative benefits, though single sessions can be helpful. Your practitioner will discuss a recommended schedule based on your goals and response to initial sessions. Some people continue periodic sessions for ongoing wellness maintenance.
